Survival Day

On a Tuesday afternoon pupils from Key Stage 4 have been learning and developing their Forest Skills. Over the past 7 weeks they have been learning how to; light fires with flint and steel, to cook over open fires, tie knots and lashings, build shelters, navigate using a map and compass and above all else, work as a team.

There have been many highlights but the main one for staff is how well they have worked together. The outdoors can be your best friend or worst enemy and at times the skills can be very hard to grasp, but by encouraging each other and sharing little hints and tips they have all achieved great outcomes and learnt some very handy skills to survive in the wild.

The last seven weeks has tested their perseverance, determination, patience proving we definitely have a few potential Bear Grylls amongst within the academy!
